在大多數人的字典中，設計意味着華麗的虛飾，是室內裝潢，是沙發皮質的面料。但對我來說，沒有什麼能遠離設計。設計是產品的靈魂，靈魂通過產品和服務的外觀表達自己。

不是源於流行文化，不是欺騙大眾，不是勸說人們購買他們不需要的產品。我們要設計自己想要的產品。同時，我認為我們擅長判斷多數人是否也需要這種產品。這是我們應該做的。

看看梅賽德斯的設計吧，流線型線條中那些銳利的細節。許多年過去了，他們的設計變得更加柔和，但細節也變得更加樸實無華。我們設計的Mac機也應該如此。

如果我在1986年知道經營皮克斯公司需要花費多少資金的話，我就得考慮到底應該不應該購買這家公司。
